Our Mission

The Door of Hope will work primarily with students within the City of Norwalk and reach out to surrounding cities of Santa Fe Springs, La Mirada, Whittier and beyond.

Our mission at Door of Hope is to adhere to our core values and our vision of providing the “life skills” lessons, mentoring, and other needs by utilizing resources that will benefit both student and their family.

We believe our efforts will bring the person in need to become more productive and therefore become a leader within the community.

Door of Hope is a Registered 501(c)(3)nonprofit organization and any contribution made is tax deductible.

ORGANIZATIONAL STATEMENT

The Door of Hope is being established in the city of Norwalk, California. The Door of Hope is an education first resource for at risk middle and high school youth The Door of Hope will work primarily with students within the City of Norwalk and reach out to surrounding cities of Santa Fe Springs, La Mirada, Whittier and beyond. The Door of Hope will create partnerships with the local school districts, juvenile court systems, probation department, local cities and local law enforcement.

At risk youth are matched with a mentor who is trained to focus on positive reinforcement, trust building, and the achievement of the individual’s goals by engaging youth in one-to-one outing and group adventures in the community showing them various community colleges and engaging in community service.

Mentors and youth agree to meet Monday through Thursday from 3:30pm to 6:00pm.

Ongoing training will continue with mentors on an individual case-by-case basis throughout the year. In addition, The Door of Hope will have monthly staff meetings to insure a definitive plan be implemented for the youth; giving firm direction to all involved in the each case. Mentors will keep a log of their mentees which will be reviewed by the Executive board to assure the path is clear and any crucial issues be handled in an efficient and timely manner.

The Door of Hope will provide other programs to support the needs of the community. These programs will provide assistance and counseling for those within the community facing hardships. The programs under the direction of Door to Hope will provide the different audiences within the community additional much needed resources.

Evaluations on all programs of Door of Hope will be made throughout the year to initiate the programs in an efficient and productive manner. An evaluation on the programs will also bring to the forefront and/or discontinue programs on an as-needed basis. This will keep the Door of Hope both adaptive and proactive within the community thus serving the needs and providing resources to meet those needs.
